Most platforms promoted through social feeds and search ads describe themselves in the language of technology. Algorithms, engines, access, precision. Almost none of them answer the four questions that decide what happens to your money. DEX Registry exists to ask those four questions in the same order, of every brand we log, and to publish the answer even when the answer is that nothing could be found.
The four questions
Who holds the funds. A deposit either sits in a client account separated from the operator's own money, or it does not. A platform that holds money on its own balance sheet is asking for credit, whatever it calls the transfer.
Where an order goes. An order can reach an external venue, or it can be filled against the platform itself. The second arrangement is legal in several jurisdictions and it puts the firm on the other side of your position, which is worth knowing before rather than after.
Which company signs the terms. Every agreement needs a party. A brand name is not a party, a domain is not a party, and a support address is not a party.
What the licence actually covers. Authorisation is granted to a named entity for named activities. A reference number that cannot be matched to the company taking your deposit tells you nothing.

What we do not do
We list no tokens, quote no prices and forecast nothing. We do not rank platforms against each other, because a ranking implies a recommendation and we are not in a position to recommend a service whose operator we cannot name. We do not publish a score out of ten for the same reason.
Where a brand gives us nothing to verify, the entry says so in plain words and the verdict stays unverified. That is a real result, not a gap in our work: a financial service that cannot be identified is a service you can measure only by what it chooses to withhold.
How to use an entry
Read the verdict box first. It carries the status, the date of the last check, the points the status rests on, and a list of everything we could not confirm. If you need only one thing from a page, take the unverified list: it is the shortest description of the risk.
Then read the custody and licence sections, which carry the instructions for checking a claim yourself. Those instructions work on any platform, not only the one on the page, and they take a few minutes. Our method explains the sources we use and where our knowledge stops.
